The rise of Jude Bellingham is a story that captivates football enthusiasts and analysts alike. From being on the fringes of the England squad just a year ago to now being touted as a potential 'greatest of all time', Bellingham's journey is nothing short of remarkable.
What makes this particularly fascinating is the rapid transformation we've witnessed. Bellingham's exclusion from the Three Lions squad in October 2025, and the subsequent doubts about his World Cup participation, seem like a distant memory. His performance at the World Cup, where he finished as England's top scorer, was a clear indicator of his talent and potential.
In my opinion, the Nations League game against Croatia was a watershed moment for Bellingham. His instrumental role in the 7-0 dismantling of Croatia, scoring and assisting with a hat-trick, showcased a new level of maturity and dominance. It's not just the numbers that impress; it's the way he leads and inspires his teammates.
Former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane's praise is a testament to Bellingham's abilities. Keane's comment, "Bellingham can go on to be one of the greatest players of all time", is a bold statement, but one that many analysts and fans are starting to believe. The package he brings to the table - running power, delivery, goal threat - is exceptional, and his progression as a player suggests there's still more to come.
One thing that immediately stands out is Bellingham's leadership qualities. Despite his young age, he's already wearing the captain's armband and inspiring his teammates. His work rate and intensity off the ball are infectious, and as Keane pointed out, having a player like Bellingham in the team can elevate the performance of those around him.
While England's front four shared the praise for the Croatian demolition, it was Bellingham who stood out as the catalyst. His all-round performance, from driving forward to his technical ability and intensity, was a sight to behold. Ian Wright's praise for Bellingham's performance in front of goal highlights his ability to be a constant threat.
Thomas Tuchel, the German head coach, acknowledged Bellingham's growth, stating, "It seems like [Bellingham has gone to another level], and you always need to." Tuchel's comment reflects the high expectations and the need for continuous development in modern football.
The adjustments made by Tuchel post-World Cup, giving players like Bellingham more responsibility, seem to have paid off. Saka's praise for Bellingham's performance and their on-field partnership is a testament to the impact Bellingham has had on the team.
In conclusion, Jude Bellingham's journey is a testament to the potential for growth and development in football. His rapid rise and the praise he's receiving from analysts and former players alike highlight his exceptional talent. As we look forward, it's exciting to speculate on the heights Bellingham can reach and the impact he'll have on the beautiful game.
From my perspective, Bellingham's story is a reminder that talent, hard work, and leadership can propel an individual to new heights, and I, for one, am excited to witness his journey as he continues to unlock new levels.
